Gary Vaynerchuk Talks ‘Thank You Economy’ with Brian Solis

By , 14 March, 2011, 1 Comment

I was able to meet Gary at MIMA Summit in Minneapolis in 2010 and have chatted with him since about various endeavors, which he surprisingly referenced in this interview to make a point about the way connections, and more importantly how we connect, is changing everything. I just got a copy of Gary’s new book and the first few pages are fantastic. He’s good people; based on his passion, determination and the action he takes alone. I suspect his book will not disappoint.

Brand and Agency Partnerships in Social Media: How to Disclose from an Agency Perspective

However, from the agency point of view it tends to be made more complicated than it needs to be. Quite often we disclose parts of the campaign/project that we shouldn’t, or we don’t disclose at all with varying shades of gray in between. We’re passionate about the work we’ve created, and that passion often leads to overly ambitious “sharing.” These two posts aren’t meant to reign in the sharing of good work. Quite the contrary. We’re just trying to ensure that you don’t end up having to field angry phone calls from “the boss.” :-)

Perfection Proves Tricky in Aronofsky’s ‘Black Swan’

By , 2 February, 2011, 6 Comments

This film really made me thing about how pinnacles — deemed by us, or others — can cause integrity breech, effect the decisions we make, dictate the view we have of ourselves and potentially shift the structure of our character, much like Aronofsky’s White Swan did in order to embody the Black Swan.

How I Found Balance in Seven Days

You’re hearing from a former Yoga skeptic. Yep. I’ve crossed over to the other side. I’m not a lululemon-wearing Yogi just yet, but after a pleasantly surprising free week of Yoga at CorePower, I will be making the leap to attempt a Yoga practice that works for me based on what I learned this week.

In one week of doing Yoga, I connected with girlfriends a total of four times, exercised five times and was able to quiet my mind and focus my thoughts on others and how I can be a better human. Activities that combine physical, mental, spiritual and human connection are a win in my book, and something worth the investment of my time and money.

Courageous. Thorough. Act. My Three Words for 2011

By , 2 January, 2011, 3 Comments

Simplicity always reigns in my world, so having these three words to come back to as my intended direction and purpose is extremely helpful. The words don’t symbolize an unrealistic expectation I have for myself, or a big goal I’ve written that is obtainable but still overwhelming to think about. They’re just three small words that can put me back on the right track to achieving what it is that I’ve deemed important in order to grow (integrity, service and growth are my eternal words for living).

Brand and Agency Partnerships in Social Media: How to Disclose from a Brand Perspective

By , 21 December, 2010, 5 Comments

As more brands are engaging in social media, and using agencies to help develop strategies and execute on them, there exists the possibility for tension between the two parties. We always like to share the good work we are doing, right? Whether that is on our website, social network or our own personal page, we like showing off.

If you know what you want, believe that you are capable of achieving it and have a desire to figure things out, than suiting up and showing up that way should be no problem, right?

What Does Digital PR Specialist for Mall of America Do Anyway?

How did you get started in this career and how did you start with Mall of America?
“When you were little, you were far more interested in people than in toys,” says my mom of me. That has never changed, and I as I ‘grow up’ my fascination of people, their behaviors and motivations only intensifies. My life-long love of people and appreciation for story telling originally placed me on the film studies path in college, which eventually turned into a love of the social sciences, interpersonal communication and PR.

The Need to Be Certain Causes Paralysis

In essence, I. WAS. SCARED. And because I was uncertain of how my blog would be received by the world, I slowly progressed into a place where creating content based on my original intent became an afterthought and often an excuse-filled discussion with those who cared enough to ask me why I wasn’t writing.

A New Chapter

A New Chapter

Life is a series of steps and it’s not the destination it’s the journey, right? Statements that are much easier said than believed most of the time because the majority of us have places we want to go and we just want to get there.
